The Challenge:

Tapa Threads, founded by a Hawaiian surf entrepreneur, had sold his apparel directly to big-box stores across the islands for years. However, as larger brands entered the market, Tapa Threads needed to enhance its branding and product line to stay competitive.

The Solution:

The stylish new identity elevated design standards and provided Tapa with a platform to reestablish its brand presence in the marketplace. The new boardshort designs incorporated innovative patterns and vibrant colors inspired by the natural beauty of the ocean, surf culture, and regional artistry.

The Results:

Although the new product lineup had received approval and was poised for production, rising supply costs began to erode profit margins in the swimwear market. With growing concerns about the economic implications, the rollout of the merchandise was postponed in favor of alternative low-cost merchandising items.
